The sound of the string quartet is among the most elegant and enchanting aural
experiences in the world. Its sound is often synonymous with classical music.
Comprised of two violins, viola, and cello, the string quartet is effective at
portraying rich and ornate musical tapestries as well as quick and exciting
flourishes. The repertoire includes the music of Haydn and Beethoven as well
as arrangements of popular songs from the 20th century. The sound of this
ensemble works indoors and outside and is the sort of music that immediately
adds dignity and class to any event.
In addition our string quartet, we also offer smaller ensembles, such as
string duos or string trios. Please contact us (link) regarding the
instrumentation that can help make your event complete.
Mary Beth Ions: Violin
- When performing, what do you want to transmit to the audience?
Our quartet performs art in real time. We want the audience to be moved by this artistic experience. We are on a mission to achieve absolute musical excellence at each and every event.
Where is the most exciting place you've performed?
Probably performing with the three tenors at Brown's stadium. I could touch Pavarotti's toupee.
What qualities make your group different from other groups that play similar musical styles?
Each of our individual energy combines to exude an energy that feeds on and perpetuates itself. As a quartet, we have 20 years of playing experience together. It's almost been like a marriage with our ups and downs, but we all love what we do. Every time we perform it's not just a gig it's an opportunity for us to showcase what we do.
If you could perform with another musician, living or dead who would it be?
Mozart. Listening to and performing his music is like a spiritual experience. It makes you realize there's a God. His music is out of this world almost 400 years later.
What inspired you to be a musician?
First of all, I loved using a nonverbal form of expression. There's a piece of paper in front of you that you don't read, that instead you bring to life through performance. You take something that is inanimate on the page and form it into personal expression.
Another thing I could say is that it was Stairway to Heaven, man.
What are three words that describe your group?
Animated, Polished, Dedicated.
